What? No memory card?

Leave it to me to be the one to drop the ball on this one. So, I borrowed my dad's camera to send with Dave to take pictures of his trip...and after my dad reminds me to put in my memory card...do I remember, NO!! One of the times I talked to Dave he told me that he went to take a few pictures of his hotel and the city, and oops, no memory card. At this point in our conversation I am kicking myself, what an idiot thing to do. I ask Dave if he can get a card somewhere because I am excited to see pictures, however he doesn't sound too excited about it himself. Surely there are memory cards in Singapore!! Well, he tried last night to go to a little mall, but of course it was later and most places were closed...hopefully he will be able to pick one up in a gift shop at the airport or something.

He ended up getting a couple of pictures from his cell phone
(actually 4 but two of them were very blurry)

His room was on the 57th floor of the hotel, so both were taken off the balcony of his hotel room. The one of the city has a port right in the middle of the city, the other is of a cathedral that was just outside of the hotel...it looks beautiful.

I am really hoping that he will be able to locate a memory card, these camera pictures are nice and all, but it will be nice to have a lot more to pick through. Hopefully next post I will have a new set, from Malaysia. Until then, bring on day 5!!

Day 3, let the tears flow...

I figured I would give a days rest on our survivor week (or 12 days), but I can at least say that yesterday we survived another day. So far, so good. It hasn't been as bad as I was expecting. I think I fooled myself into thinking it would be really rough, but then again we are only on day 3, talk to me next week.

This morning started out so well. First off, Avery is back to sleeping through the night, yeah! The last 2 weeks she has been waking up at odd hours, but since Sunday she hasn't been waking up until 7AM. Good girl! Last night when I was getting the kids in bed I told McKay that he needed to clean his room before he was able to play. Well, he did just that. Right when he woke up he cleaned his room and got dressed then came to watch cartoons. Usually it is a big fight in the mornings, not today. Thank you buddy!

All along I thought it would be McKay and I butting heads, but instead it is Maci that I am having a difficult time with. Monday she would not let me do her hair, so she wasn't allowed out of the house (her friends came to her.) She has been very mouthy and ornery lately, I think due to lack of sleep, so tonight I told Maci and McKay that they needed to be in bed by 8:00. That is when the tears started flowing...my little emotional boy started really missing his dad, then Maci started in, so bring on the tears!!

Since Dave has been gone his cell phone has not been working for him (I think I wrote about it in my last post). Anyway, he has been calling from his laptop, but the connection has been hard to hear him. So as the kids are becoming unconsolable I decide to try his cell phone. Low and behold it works!! He was on his way to the airport to head to Malaysia so he had some time to talk. Poor little McKay had to take a minute to calm down before he talked, but finally was able to hear his dad, and I know it made him feel a lot better. Maci said her goodnight wishes to him and was done.

Hopefully, the sleep will be better for them and tomorrow will be a better day.

One day down...

Well, I have officially survived day one!! And my kids and myself are still alive. I kept myself busy last night with a crafty project (baby shower invitations!) Maci went swimming with her friend and McKay was the luckiest of all...he had two fun birthday parties to go to. The first one was a Medieval theme party where they made shields/crests and decorated goblets and made their costumes. They played games and ate cake and ice cream. He had a great time. Thanks Emily!! He was home for 1 1/2 hours before he was picked up to celebrate Hinckley's birthday. Lucky boy got to go to the Jazz game, and even luckier got to sit in the box seats. Yeah, we'll leave it up to them to get McKay to one of the Jazz games. He came home late with a few prizes in tow...a huge Jazz umbrella (that came in very handy in today's crazy rain!!) and also a cars lunchbox party favor. He really had a good time. Here is the party crew that were so lucky to sit in the "good seats!" Happy Birthday Hinckley and Halle.

So this morning we were all excited to get a call from Dave, and even skipped Stake Conference in hopes to talk to him. (I was actually quite nervous to deal with 3 kids for 2 hours in a crowded church, all by myself). Well, unfortunately he didn't call until 1:00 PM. He ended up having an unexpected delay in Japan, which wouldn't be too bad, except for the fact that it was for 13 Hours!! His cell phone didn't work in Japan, so he called me from his laptop. The connection wasn't so great so it made it hard to understand him. The kids both gave up after asking "what" a million times. I was able to get that it was 5:00 AM Monday, and that they were heading to Singapore and would arrive there 1:00 PM Monday their time, 9:00 PM Sunday our time. His boss was trying to switch things around since they would be missing most of their Monday with their clients. I just hope it doesn't keep them gone longer! He had asked me in an email how my first day as a single parent went...I have to say, the kids have been good, but I would never want to go through that in my life. We miss our daddy!

I was able to get all of the laundry folded and watched a really good movie (thanks Kristin) "License to Wed" while we waited for Dave's call. We later ventured out into the crazy Rain and headed down for our usual Sunday dinner at the in-laws. It makes it nice to have somewhere to go, and helps break up the long day! Besides I enjoy going and hanging out with everyone, and the kids love to play with their cousins. We have lately taken on the challenge of a good game of Phase 10. I can proudly say I won tonight! (at least in points...we ended early in order to get home.)

Wish me luck as I continue yet another 11 days...

A Date with the Family!

I wanted to have a little fun evening out before Dave left for his 12 days away from us, so I thought of a few different things we could do. I first thought maybe Dave and I could just go out, and thanks to my sis she even offered to babysit just so that we could go out. I asked if I could take a rain check for when he actually gets home.

I decided that we all needed to go as a family so...I went to Costco and bought a Boondocks gift card...the kids were very excited!! So after Dave went to work a half day and then packed his ONE suitcase (for 12 days remember, no way would a woman be able to do that!!) off we headed for Boondocks, yeah!!

Well, for a Friday night we were surprised that it wasn't too busy. The kids really had a good time playing in the Kiddie Kove and then went crazy playing the arcade games. I have to admit playing the Monopoly game was a little exciting for myself...even though I never hit the "Jackpot" it did bring back memories of the slot machines in Wendover...as the tickets kept coming out, if only they were worth more than the awesome dollar store prizes we cashed them in for!!

Maci and McKay were entertained for awhile until all the tokens ran out...off to the ticket machine...then to cash them in for our one day use prizes (actually a 1/2 hour use on the helicopter, it broke after the second try.) It didn't matter what prizes they got, it was just fun to see how excited and happy the night was for them.

We headed off to get something to eat and of course Maci wanted Pizza. She could eat pizza for every meal if we would let her. We settled for and Italian restaurant, La Vigna...we were able to get right in, it was a little pricey, but good. We all had a good night, and was especially fun to be all together.

It was an early morning the next day for Dave, he headed out at 6:00 AM...and the twelve day countdown was on!!!

My Baby is 5 months old...

Where does the time go? I cannot believe that my little Avery is already 5 months old. Since I just started blogging here is the scoop on my little Avery...

Avery Mae (named after my Grandma Rena Mae) was born on September 19th, 2007...mom was hoping she would come before that, but unfortunately had to be induced, she chose September 19th in honor of dad's little brother Bret and mom's little brother Jesse's birthday's...how fun to all celebrate the same day!! She weighed 7 lbs. 10 oz. and was 19 inches long (the exact same as Maci on both). We planned on leaving the hospital by Friday in order to attend aunt Kristen's wedding on Saturday...didn't happen. Instead we had a little setback when on day 2 little Avery was sent to the NICU for being a Coombs Positive baby. After numerous pokes, and pricks, IV's and lights by day 5 we were able to bring her home. We continued to take her in for testing (more pokes) but after one week, all was well...We have been so blessed with such a good spirited baby. She has been a very happy baby from the start, and we all love and adore her!!

Where does she get her BLUE eyes, light skin, and light hair from, you ask? Yeah, we were just as shocked when she started losing her jaundice tan and I could see a tint of red in her light hair. Nothing like McKay or Maci...but she is ours!!! My mom said to me one day, "It's just not fair that all your kids get the Wall side looks." I just turned to her and asked "Have you looked in the mirror?" My mom has beautiful Blue eyes and blonde hair(okay from a box) but I can still say that Avery has my side of the family looks as well. At least I know the BIG eyes are mine!!

So now that she is 5 months here are her stats: she last weighed in at 13 lbs. 8 oz. and was 24 3/4 inches long. Her most recent accomplishments are: she is sitting up unattended, and she loves Rice Cereal!! Those are just a couple to start with mor to come!!

We love you miss Avery!!

Holy Swollen!

I was woke up Friday morning with Dave asking if his ankle looked a bit swollen...he hobbled on over, took his shoe off, and was in a little bit of pain. Yep, it was very much larger than his right ankle. How did he manage doing it you ask? Well, he plays basketball really early every Friday morning with a group from work, and this particular morning he landed down hard on some other guy that was just in his way...he will be out for a while, to say the least.

Do you think I could find an ace bandage to wrap it with? NOPE!! After a really early phone call to Marci she hooked us up. So he wrapped it up and off to work he went.

This is what he came home with...a very bruised and swollen ankle, with the swelling travelling up his leg. If he weren't so stubborn he would go get it checked. All he says is, "they can't do anything with it until the swelling is gone anyway." He said he will go on Monday if it isn't better. I remind him that Monday is a holiday, he smartly replies "then I will go on Tuesday." Yeah, Whatever!!

Okay so say Monday or Tuesday it isn't better, do you really think he will go to the doctor? He probably wouldn't except for the fact that this coming Saturday he will be leaving for Singapore for a week possibly a week and a half! I don't think it will be too much fun hobbling around an unfamiliar country. Let's just cross our fingers that all the ice and heat, and keeping the kids off of him this weekend will help the swelling, and he really won't have to go to the doctor next week!!
